Wind Dervishes

A rushing
like water falling
calls me.

I try to face,
and brace against
an animalistic air.

I follow leaves
like dervish dancers
leading flight

from trees
who let go
overnight

  1. I love the opening stanza, calling the reader as the sound called the writer. The images are quickly drawn, yet light and aery, like their topic. Nicely done.

  3. The title pulled me in. The image is quietly incredible . . . from trees who let go overnight

  4. A short but powerful piece, its breathless structure so evocative of its theme.
