fire and ice

Fire and ice
don't mix you say?
I've met fire
with icy frost.
But this time they're merging...
when an iceberg is melting.

You can't see 90% of
the ice below water's surface.
Melt the tip
a bit at a time...
and the surface area
in view grows flatter.
Easier to stand upon
with surer footing.

I doubt we have enough
fuel to melt it all down,

but the steam is flowing
becoming droplets to the sea.
And the sea is infinitely
vast enough to carry
our tears away...

I face my birthday tomorrow with hope and trepidation, as a new life lies ahead, one moment at a time.

  1. i like how even a 'melt-down' won't result in us sinking... that it provides more room to stand on, the 'surer footing'.

  3. Add no tears to the sea and brave the cold. A new life it is then, go towards it with sure foot and steady proud stride.

  4. Some say the world will end in fire,
    And some in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire,
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice.

  5. Great tensions at play here, but I am insatiable and wish you'd tell us what is at play. Happy belated birthday! And now, of this new life?
