No time to write, so a favorite quote for all of my poetry friends:
-
Plato's Phaedrus : "If anyone comes to the gates of poetry and expects to become an adequate poet by acquiring expert knowledge of the subject without the Muses' madness, he will fail, and his self-controlled verses will be eclipsed by the poetry of men who have been driven out of their minds." I am not sure if i believe in the idea of muse...nor do i consider myself on the gates to become an "adequate" poet -- though poetry is my love and madness gets me...and I keep writing things,
ReplyDeleteso as it goes now, I am not sure whether to join Plato or you, dear Diane...Thank God, there's place for all on this globe!
